Going back to 2005, my conclusion would be that there seems to be no real purpose to the game. What's the point of enclosing me inside those rooms and then setting puzzles to let me out so easily, why would anyone do that? It seems to be just random.

So... The conclusion is...

We just had escape from strange place, wandering through 9 rooms, solving puzzles to get out. And we exit to the freedom.

no plot. no sense.
And diary is for teasing without further explanation and without further story.

But... What does Submachine means?..

so, we move to players' and Mateusz's reactions and comments between Sub1 and Sub1Ext!

excerpt from Mateusz Skutnik's Archived News of the year 2005 (October)
October 2nd 2005:
Well now this is strange. Due to enormous success of the game Submachine and thousands of players I had to remove all of my games from rewolucje.com, because Submachine was causing gigantic transfer, that would consume my yearly license in like three days. Right now Submachine is back online on a different mirror, and I’m looking for a new home for other games.
and...
SURPRISE!!!

omg, I remember about that cheat! In many games there appeared a yellow square over clickable things when you pressed the tab key. I used to use that a lot when I was stuck XD (but in my defense, a lot of games back then featured pixel hunting, sooo...)

Murtaugh, without trying to give you a big head, I'm gonna have to say this game was excellent. It wasnt too ridiculously easy nor ridiculously difficult and I really love the graphics - nice and simple and easy to see and play. Like someone said above, the places you had to click on were not minute and the best thing of all was that...it was in english!lol. I liked ending up in the rain forest too.

For your sequel please keep the graphics the same, the music helped too...(quite tranquil more than scary...ok maybe Im weird). Anyway, if you want to make the game a little harder the cursor should remain as an arrow and not turn into a hand on the things you can click on. I dont know much about the making of a point and click game, I just know you point, click, and occassionally drag...so if my suggestion is silly, sorry!

P.S. Thanks for sending me the link Graeme.

murtaugh,

I tried to use the e-mail form on your site, but it wasn’t working. So, I’ll just post here like Graeme suggested.

I'll admit, it wasn't as hard as Graeme made it out to be, but it was very, very fun. The puzzles were well thought out and placed. It gave me a sense of accomplishment completing each one; unlike other games when the puzzle is figured out I’m left wanting. The art, although simple, was pleasing to the eye and the transitions and sounds were very well done. Kudos to you.

Do you have plans to expand the game, or to make a second one? I have an idea to expand it, and if you don’t want to hear it just skip this next paragraph; I won’t be offended and I hope you don't take offense to it.

When the elevator is being used to get to the end it breaks, and falls back down the shaft. It hits hard and causes things to break in the rooms already explored; access to some rooms is cut off via fallen rubble, a couple more pathways open that take the explorer through the walls. The explorer ends up having to find a submersible to escape, instead of using the elevator.

Once again, great work. It’s been a while since I’ve played a new (to me) quality point’n’click game like yours.

The music - yes, Im already searching for more eerie music for part two. As for the mouse.hand.enabled = false......
well, I'm always a little bit annoyed, when there's a hand disabled in the point and click games. Hand shows you hot pots that you have to find, without it I'm just feeling blind. The second game will be harder, but not this way though. Fortunately, I figured how to disable the tab key cheat.

Murtaugh, not only have you created a great game and encouraged some people to try to make their own point 'n' click, but you have also gotten people to post here for the first time! Now isnt that an achievement!...plus Think~Pink hadn't played this one before (and she has played almost ALL the point n clicks), so she musta been happy to see this one;)

By the way, those people who criticised the ending should reconsider what a point n click is all about. The ending was great, doesnt need to be completely fascinating, the sense of achievement from escaping should be enough.

Are you looking for suggestions for the concept of the sequel?...just wondering.

when you see me away, like not posting for several hours, that means I'm sleeping, since I'm on the other side of the world. :D
but nevertheless, wouldn't be much of a lazylacer, if I didn't read all the comments in my own LL topic, now would I.

So, let the answering begin. :D

General answers to all of you:

thank you once again for your feedback, I did expect you to like it (well, I'm a creator of the game, I want people to like it by default), but never thought that you would like it that much. Thanks again, as I said it will fasten the creation of the second part. Concerning that - I changed the way of moving between rooms, now it looks more like a normal pnc game, however got some very cool ambient music for the background. But since you liked the first game so much I'm wondering if I shouldn't make a sequel identically as the first part, just with different puzzles of course. But - I've done such game already and now I want to do something slightly different. Hope you guys won't be disappointed (as in disappoint'n'click games rotfl). Oh well, enough of self exposing. However, the game is on the way.
As for the level of difficulty. Well, that's a tricky subject, some of you say that it was easy, others are stuck, but what hits me most is the good mood of people that finished it by themselves. I think that's best thing that I could achieve with this game, to put people into good mood and give them a feel of achievement. So i guess I'll keep the difficulty at the same level. ;)

>>Comment By Kelly
How do you learn how to create games like this, I WOULD LOVE to learn, is there a book, some sofware besides flash.<<

well, without flash you can do nothing. So I pressume you have it. Honestly speaking, you don't need much of action script knowledge to make a pnc game. It's the level of understanding comments like play, stop, gotoAndPlay. simple stuff really. You can learn much from the internet, google the subjects of flash tutorials, google will come up with great number of outcome. Check http://www.flashkit.com for example, there are lots of open source files. For games also. And answering your question - how do you learn to make such games - well, as you learn to do anything on a comp - you sit by the computer, stare at it, and try to figure out things by yourself. Its like a pnc game really. :D you click here, there, and something is solved. If you cannot learn that by yourself, online tutorials will be very helpful. I learnt it that way.

I did find the combination for the valves and think I have figured out how to get the combination without randmomly clicking:

At the bottom of the panel with the 4 fuses, there are 3 discs which match the discs below the valves in the other room. I figured that these were the key as to which valve should be put in which position, so just match the discs in the valve room to the ones in the fuse room ...and voila
