well, I think they were two absolutely separated location from the start. Mateusz never thought to make it as Lighthouse's basement.
and there's no "Basement". there's just "Machine". (as was seen in Sketch game menu). That could mean it all was fake from the start.

Just blue for fake reality, and red for the truth.

(just remember, it can be just my one hundred fourth absolutely wrong theory. XD)

we still don't know what happened with tis Basement/Machine->Lighthouse travel.

submachines ARE REAL structures. it's not a dream, dillusion, nirvana, hallucination or whatever. murtaugh will not wake up in his own bed at the end

Dillusion covers Matrix-like scenarios. I think Mateusz is implying we really were physically there in that location, and it wasn't fake, that arcade game was put there to deceive us.

my observations

1) Picture on wall. There's sketch of lighthouse on it. And small writings: Sub_2
Lighthouse?.. what does it mean? we're in some lighthouse? or what?

2) we can find floating crystal. It is called "Wisdom". strange...
Just secret/award? Or something more?

3) now, after we exit elevator, we see two doors. One with blue lamp above, and one with red. (Matrix reference? One for fake, and one for real?)
If we open left door (blue), we exit this place and step outside. We are in nature (the same in original version).
But if we open right door... our adventure continues? We are still in some structure. Familiar wooden planks cover walls... Two locked doors and stairs can be seen. We can turn on lamp via switch...

4) If we choose right door, we can read Submachine2 coming soon.

Its...a recreation of something Murtuagh experiences? Its the only thing I think of after he first used his Karma arm and ended up somewhere he was not familiar with. The Basement itself was like some pocket dimension he ended up in, and he had to get out by solving the puzzles.
Cause so far in the main series, we see its a recreation of something, someone already went though and we are re-experiencing it.

The only reason I suspect this is because of the Diary Page left behind. I would think he had his Diary with him, and he left that page behind either by mistake, or by means of leaving a paper trail behind to make sure the Basement doesn't change. (Which it can if we view the growth of the first game original Submachine 1, The Basement getting bigger and bigger.)
