Now, this is on a new topic, but has it ever occurred to anyone that the last beamer in Sub 8 in (layer 7) was to "open" layer 1?

Yes, although that wasn't the case. It opened the door in layer 5.

So if one was to play it and not activate the beamer the layer five door wouldn't work?

To start: has anyone read the book series 'The Laws of Magic' by Michael Pryor?

Sorry, I just had to write that in a moment of hurry.
Anyway, he wrote a thing about dimensions that I found interesting. Now, I have no idea how it could apply anywhere in the Submachine, but...

So we have our standard three dimensions of direction. (Yes, the title may have been misleading :/ )
Length, width and depth.
The most common representation of them is a cube. Imagine it.
Now turn it so that you can only see one face of your cube. Suddenly, you can only see an area, which is two dimensional, a square. Now if we turn this square around 90 degrees so that we can only see the edge of it (A line) we appear to have taken it down by one more dimension again.
Finally, by turning this line one more time, it has become a dot, practically invisible.
Pryor suggests within his book that you can effectively fold a three dimensional shape like that into a no dimensional space...

Yeah, like that.
It's mathematically possible, but with current knowledge of how dimensions work, it's obviously not viable...
It'd have to include folding these bits away into parallel dimensions...hmm.

Nice thought though.
